Patrick Stewart
Finally, a Hot Bad Guy even my grandmother can approve of. Despite his
recent 15 year stint as Hot Good Captain Jean-Luc Picard of Star Trek:
The Next Generation, Mr. Stewart has Hot Bad Guy credentials aplenty.
Doing a one-man show of A Christmas Carol afforded him the chance to play the mostly bad Ebenezar Scrooge, as well as the ambiguous (but sadly well-motivated) Ghost of Christmas Future. Despite Scrooge's ultimate turnaround, he is a Bad Guy Extraordinaire in the beginning. We shall ignore here the end of the play. In fact, we shall never speak of it again. Ahem.
But Mr. Stewart has played unambigious Hot Bad Guys in Conspiracy Theory and Lady Jane. As Dr. Jonas/Henry Finch, the criminal mastermind in Conspiracy Theory, Stewart was mostly unseen. While we disapprove of the "unseen" aspect, we heartily approve of Criminal Masterminds. Chasing down and driving potential Hot Bad Guy Mel Gibson mad with, well, conspiracy theories, Stewart shows off his facility for Hot Bad Guyitude.
And then there is Lady Jane. As Henry Grey, Duke of Suffolk, Mr. Stewart is a domineering father to the doomed Lady Jane, even as he stands about looking Splendid in his Collection of Fabulous Fur Stoles. While the Goddesses had remembered him caning his daughter after she threw a little temper tantrum, it was sadly discovered that it was his wife who did the deed. Fortunately, he was well aware, and did nothing to stop it, preserving his Badness.
Throughout the movie, he stands around looking Manly, despite his Tragic Costume Design. As Princess said, "It takes a strong man to stand there in a jumper and ruffles." He's not the Baddest of the Bad Guys, but he certainly is the Hottest of the Bad Guys. And this, despite a clear shot of Hot Bad Guy Cary Elwes' naked butt. Goodness!
