Wesley Snipes

The gorgeously buff Wesley Snipes has played borderline Bad Guys a number of times. His best flat-out Bad Guy performance, though, was as the memorably evil Simon Phoenix in Demolition Man. Pretty much the stand out performance of the movie (although, admittedly, it can’t be that hard to upstage Sylvester “Rock” Stallone and Sandra “Hard Place” Bullock), Simon Phoenix is a serious criminal in the semi-future. After a hundred years in suspended animation learning even more villainous skills for his arsenal, Mr. Phoenix is even more nigh-unstoppable.

Since crime has pretty much been eliminated in the movie’s futuristic setting, even the cops aren’t sure what to do with Simon Phoenix. Of course, it’s up to Stallone to stop him, but not before large sections of the city and most of a museum have been destroyed. It’s just so awesome. And Snipes’ fast-talking criminal smack talk just adds to the fun.

Are his fashion choices questionable? Absolutely. But perhaps a bleached blonde do and denim overalls are the hot things in the 21st century (hey, wait a sec…). Is his level of violence impressive? Unquestionably. And clearly, he could still work out while being cryogenically frozen, because Damn He Is Buff. And I thought we had nothing to look forward to.
