The Patriot

Oh, God, The Patriot. In this bizarrely-similar-to-Braveheart film, Mel Gibson plays the title character. He is a man who, while having a military record, has chosen not to fight in the American Revolution. His interest is peace, at least until the British mess with his family. (Sound familiar? But less woad in this movie.) Anyway, the British Guy who Comes Messing is the Lovely, Talented, and Oh, So Evil Jason Isaacs, who in this film plays Colonel Tavington. Oh My God with the Hotness! So, so, so amazingly Hot in his British Military Uniform. He even pulls off that giant furry hat really well. And he gets his own theme music. It's awesome.

It is a fairly violent movie. Children die. There's lots of blood. It's definitely not one for the kiddies. And, of course, we all know how it ends. Jason Isaacs is, in many ways, the only redeeming factor in this movie. The story is fairly bland and Mel Gibson is far past his Hotness Prime. But Jason Isaacs alone is enough to make me watch this movie over and over and over...

Quality of the Hot Guys: my personal introduction to Jason Isaacs, the Original Hot Bad Guy
Quality of the Bad Guys: um, hello? Jason Isaacs.
Quality of the Other Stuff: kind of boring when there is no Jason Isaacs
Overall Score: and the only reason it's that high is Jason Isaacs
