The Incredibles

The Incredibles, from the inimitable team at Pixar, is the story of a family of retired superheroes who are called back into duty by a criminal mastermind. The family is made up of superstrong Bob Parr, superelastic Helen Parr, superstrange daughter Violet, who can become invisible and make weird bubbles, and superfast Dash... Hmmm, that last kid reminds me of Someone. Bob still hangs out with his superhero buddy Frozone (voiced by Cool Bad Guy Samuel L. Jackson) until he's called back into duty. Little does he know that his employer is an evil genius and eventually the wife and kiddies will have to come and rescue him.

As always, anything from Pixar is fantastic, nay Incredible, and that is certainly the case here. I didn't like this one quite as much as Finding Nemo, although the two films are dramatically different. A friend of mine is now completely convinced that she has a shot at being a superhero costume designer. It's a totally wonderful movie - great computer animation (at times I forgot I was watching an animated movie), great dialogue, great plot, and wickedly funny. I just wish there had been more Frozone, as he was The Man.

Quality of the Hot Guys: um, animated, but still wearing spandex
Quality of the Bad Guys: I've got your classic, over the top, comic book villain right here, pal!
Quality of the Other Stuff: it's Pixar
Overall Score: alas that there should be not enough Frozone
