Desperado

The Beautiful and Fantabulous Antonio Banderas stars in this sequel? remake? amazingly similar? to El Mariachi, a Spanish-language movie with a budget of about $2.50. The Lovely Antonio plays El Mariachi, a Mexican vigilante out for, duh, revenge on the people that killed the woman he loved. What follows is an amazingly violent film, complete with explosions, improbably amounts of bullets, and Steve Buscemi. And a love scene with Salma Hayek that makes you think, "dude, she got PAID for this? What the hell?"

Desperado is easily one of the hottest, driest movies I've ever seen. While watching it, remember that it's important to stay hydrated. Also, it's really, really violent. I just can't emphasize that enough. I lost track of the body count and blood is spattered everywhere. It's essentially a two hour long excuse for shooting things mixed in with some really excellent mariachi music and, of course, Antonio Banderas in jingly pants. High drama? Nope. Lots of dialogue? Nope. Good movie? Hell Yes.

Quality of the Hot Guys: it doesn't get much better than Antonio Banderas in jingly pants
Quality of the Bad Guys: just your garden variety drug dealers
Quality of the Other Stuff: pretty simple story, but the violence makes it Cool
Overall Score: Highly Watchable, if you can handle the Extreme Amount of Violence
