Chris Penn
Back in the good ole' days (the 80s), Chris was a
muscular, manly sort of guy who had a promising career
with such favorites as Footloose and the focus of this
homage, Pale Rider. Though his character, Josh LaHood,
is a typical Hollywood bad guy (i.e. no redeeming
feature about him or complexity either) he's got a
focus and hotbloodedness that lit a fire in me just
the same. I could say he warmed the cockles of my
heart, but that would be a misleading lesson in
anatomy.
How did this ne'er-do-well get to the core of me? Why, by lustin' and bein' persistent about it, that's how. There's some je ne sais quois about a man on a horse who glowers at his prey like she's a giant pork chop or drumstick that he's looking forward to devouring. Sadly, it does seem that Chris has gone on to devour perhaps one or two pork chops too many, but I will always hold a fond memory of him as Josh LaHood in my... Heart-cockles.
