The very definition of Gorgeous Cheekbones and Bee Stung Lips, Cillian
Murphy was, at last, released from Wanna Be Oblivion with his
portrayal of Dr. Crane/Scarecrow in Batman Begins. At first, we
are led to believe that he's just a Corrupt Psychiatrist. Sure, that
has its own brand of Evil. I mean, getting criminals off the hook
with an insanity plea isn't exactly the kind of thing Mother Theresa
was famous for. But still, the Bad Guys still had to go to Arkham
Asylum for the Criminally Insane, which was No Great Shakes. So,
just when we thought Mr. Murphy would languish forever on the Wanna
Be List, he busted out the Fear Gas.
That's right. Fear Gas. A substance that may very well require its own homage in the Exceptionally Evil Objects section of this web site, Fear Gas makes people see their worst fears coming to life before them. And Scarecrow is in charge of putting the stuff in Gotham's water supply. That's Really Evil, friends. Of course, the whole thing backfired on him, but the important thing is that he got away and we can hope for more Scarecrow in future films. After all, how many guys on this list got to ride away on a horse that breathes fire?
