For many people, Christmas is a time for family, or at least a time for a couple free days off work. What better way to spend that free time, or escape from your family, than by curling up with some steaming Hot Bad Guys?
Even if you're sick of your own family, enjoy the madness and dysfunctionality of another: the Corleone Family. The Godfather and The Godfather II both star Hot Bad Guy Al Pacino, and the sequel adds a bonus Young Robert DeNiro! How can you go wrong? As messed up as your family may be, hopefully watching this one in action will make you feel a little better. Or, maybe it'll give you some ideas for spicing up your next family reunion!
Some people prefer to take a religious approach to this increasingly secular holiday, and we here at Hot Bad HQ respect that. The birth of a savior is precious moment. If you're tired of all the traditional Christmas movies, try celebrating with Carnivāle, which stars Hot Bad Guy Clancy Brown as a priest with savior-like tendencies, locked in a battle of good and evil. (Considering who's recommending it, guess which side he's on!) Or, for a similar approach, try season seven of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Hot Bad Guy Nathan Fillion is quite delightful as a deranged preacher!
Want a different take on "savior"? Documentaries abound on Waco, Texas's most notorious son, David Koresh. You could try that. But that doesn't seem very cheery.
The Godfather movies pair well with a pasta and red sauce. If you don't have an old family recipe, wait till about an hour in and Clemenza will teach you how to make one. Pasta always goes well with a red wine, especially one homemade by Sicilian peasants. Polish that off with some nice cookies and nog, liberally dosed with rum!
Reindeer games, of course, are traditional, but very few people seem to know the rules. The Hot Bad Goddesses suggest taking a walk on the wild side - take yourself out for some Chinese food & a movie. You might see some people you know! And please, be kind to the movie theater staff.
Return to the Hot Bad Holidays!
