Groundhog's Day. So much rests on the furry shoulders of a Wee Rodent. More winter? More wretched cold and wind that blows through your body? Or a sunny afternoon? Until Punxsutawney Phil makes his appearance, we will never know.
So, what more appropriate way to celebrate This Fine Holiday than movies concerning rodents?
Groundhog Day - Er, except for this first one, rather, although Bill Murray is a touch rodentesque. However, it is the sad tale of a weatherman who is forced to live the same day over and over again until he gets it right. An evil plan indeed, particularly if it's cold outside.
Caddyshack - Interesting. Bill Murray again. This time he's up against a gopher who is intent on destroying a golf course. Tragically, the gopher is almost as intelligent as Mr. Spackler, so it's a tight race.
Stuart Little - The story of a mouse who is adopted by a family. The family cat is less than amused. Based on the classic children's tale by E.B. White, this movie bears almost no resemblance to the original. But Michael J. Fox even has a cute voice.
Why not make your pals a Party Hedgehog to feed them during the movie marathon?
Or there are any number of Groundhog (also known as a Woodchuck) recipes available!
Of course, there's no way of telling how many of those will repeat on you! What better way to celebrate the achievements of Punxsutawney Phil than with ... Hand Shadows!
