As Tony Soprano in The Sopranos, James Gandolfini skates a difficult line
between Sweet Family Man and Tough Mafia Guy. Wait a sec. He cheats on his
wife constantly. He's kind of an asshole to all of his daughter's boyfriends.
He treats his son like a younger version of himself. He routinely has temper
tantrums, even in his personal life. Hold on. He's not a Sweet Family Man!
He's a Cool Bad Guy! Brilliant! And who else but a Bad Guy could take his
kid on a tour of colleges and stop off and murder a Mafia traitor with his
bare hands on his lunch break? Admittedly, Mr. Gandolfini does not have the
traditional Hot Guy physique. However, the money and the danger that he wears
like a sleeveless white T-shirt more than make up for it. Now we know why he
gets so many ladies. Of course, it could also be the boat.
(Yeah, we've seen a LOT more of Tony Soprano than any of us feel
comfortable with.)
