Tom Riddle's Diary

Tom Riddle's Diary in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets is not a Particularly Evil Object. I mean, the thing is just a book, after all, and at first glance, an empty book as well. However, what's hidden inside it is Evil of the Highest Degree. It contains the memory of Tom Riddle, who later became Lord Voldemort, while he was at Hogwarts. He saved his memories inside this innocent looking diary so he could lead another to purge the school of people he felt were unworthy to study there. Creepy, huh? Nothing like hiding a Teenage Hitler in a Diary to make you seem like a Grade A Nutjob.

So, the book falls into innocent hands, all hell breaks loose and Harry Potter is called upon to save the day. Of course. Tragically, the book is eventually destroyed, but Voldemort certainly gets bonus points for Creatively Enchanting an Inanimate Object and Being Snarky About It. And a nod, of course, to Lucius Malfoy who passed it on to an innocent bystander and had the guts to act like he had No Idea what Dumbledore was talking about. Brilliant as always, Mr. Malfoy.

Exceptionalness: unless in Book Six we find out that Tom Riddle hid his 17 year old self in a different diary
Evilness: for the Horror Within
