Richard Burton
Finally, a Hot Bad Historical Guy! Our Favorite! Richard Burton portrayed
Historical Serial Monogamist Extraordinaire King Henry VIII in Anne of the Thousand Days opposite Genevieve Bujold, who played the aforementioned Anne.
Now, Henry may not be considered by most to be a Traditional Bad Guy. Okay,
the Catholic Church has a somewhat dim view of his religious attitudes. And
let's not get started on the cultural rape of Wales perpetrated by the Act of
Union in 1536, an Act which annexed the nation of Wales to England and attempted
to erase its language and way of life, as well as instituting a Welsh Brain Drain
on par with Nazi Germany. But I digress. None of that is mentioned in "Anne of
the Thousand Days," of course (an example of the whitewashing of the era), but
still, Richard Burton plays a Villainous Monarch With Unfortunate Hats, But
Lovely Legs. And he has his wife framed for treason (read, adultery) and
beheaded. That, My Friends, is Pretty Damn Bad.

(In this particular portrayal. In the nonexistent movie about the
Act of Union, he would have a 47.)
