Christian Bale

Ah, the beautiful and mysterious Christian Bale. He is Oh So Lovely as both Crazy Serial Killer Guy Patrick Bateman in American Psycho, and as Walter Wade, Jr. a kind of Racist Killer in the Heat of the Moment Guy in Shaft. Particularly in American Psycho, Mr. Bale does a fantastic job in his portrayal of a cold-blooded killer. His penchant for waxing poetic about different genres of 80's music before mercilessly slaughtering his victims raises his brutality to a new level. Mr. Bateman looks so stylish in his 80's suits, complete with headphones. And who couldn't love a killer who takes the time to cover his apartment in plastic before he chops someone up with an ax in order to preserve the cleanliness of his décor, I ask you?!

As Walter Wade, Jr. in Shaft, he is, perhaps, less appealing. Racism is simply gauche and beating someone with a lead pipe is completely passé. Are we living in Clue, perhaps, Mr. Wade? Still, Mr. Bale is gorgeous, especially when he's on the lam. Plus getting to work with Cool Bad Guy Samuel L. Jackson never hurts. And THEN he married Amy even though he had been in love with Jo for YEARS. Oh. Wait. That was Little Women. Never Mind.

So, whether it be for discussing the relative qualities of Huey Lewis and the News or dropping a running chainsaw down a stairwell to kill a reluctant prostitute, Mr. Bale, we salute you as a Hot Bad Guy Extraordinaire.
